Tomorrow is the third anniversary of Hurricane Katrina hitting New Orleans.
Tropical Storm Gustav is hitting Jamaica, while gaining strength; and it may hit anywhere between Texas and Florida as early as Tuesday. NOLA is already preparing for a mandatory evacuation, just in case. :(
I hope, hope, hope, hope Gustav doesn’t land. The last thing the Gulf Coast — and especially NOLA — needs is more devastation.
Olympic probe into Chinese gymnasts’ ages.
How’s this part for sheer stupidity?
“It’s only because there is a rivalry between the Chinese and American women’s gymnastics teams that these questions have arisen,” Mr Lu said.
The United States came second to China in the women’s team event.
Mr Lu also told reporters that the parents of the gymnasts were “indignant” over persistent questions about their daughters’ ages.
“They have faced groundless suspicion. Why aren’t they believed? Why are their children suspected? Their parents are very angry,” he said.
They’re suspected because they’re little girls, not young women in their mid-teens! It has squat to do with rivalry; it has everything to do with THE TRUTH!
All that has to be done is for the parents to hand over a copy of their birth certificates. That would settle it once and for all. It ain’t that hard.
