contraception does NOT equal abortion

Cristina Page: HHS Moves to Define Contraception as Abortion.

Abortion ends a pregnancy. Contraception prevents one. There is a difference. Not to mention some women use The Pill for reasons that have little to do with birth control and more to do with other things (more regular cycles, perhaps?). Apparently, some people still don’t seem to get it.

Meanwhile, it’s still okay for men to get Viagra thanks to their insurance. Go figure.

ye olde new yorker cover

No doubt you’ve seen the most recent cover of The New Yorker. You know the one — the one with the Obamas on the cover.

CBC has a decent-sized version of the cover, plus coverage. Various writers respond.

While I can kinda understand the intent of the cover — lampooning all the garbage that has been thrown at the Obamas — I think the cartoonist responsible could’ve done a better job. I don’t see the humour in it at all.
