friday…fifteen!

I’m doing three sets of Friday Five questions this time.

First, the two sets from the Livejournal Friday Five community

Theme: International Travel

1. You have the summer and plenty of money to travel abroad. Where all would you go?
London, France (mainly Paris), Australia (mainly Sydney and Melbourne, I think), then British Columbia (Canada).

2. What foods would you be sure you got to eat?
Um…I don’t know. I’d probably ask for suggestions.

3. What landmarks would you be sure you got to see?
Most of the usual suspects — Big Ben, London Bridge, Eiffel Tower, Arc de Triomphe, Notre Dame, Sydney Opera House,…that sort of thing.

4. What airline would you use?
Whatever one was available, I suppose.

5. Would your knowledge of other languages influence where you went? (i.e. would you be more likely to go to France if you spoke French)
I’ve retained some French; and I’d bring an English-French/French-English dictionary with me. Aside from that, the other places I chose have English as their main language; the only thing I’d have to be concerned about is understanding slang. ;)

Theme: USA Road Trip

1. Who would you take with you on a road trip?
I’m not sure I’d take anyone, oddly enough.

2. What states would you visit?
The rest of New England (New Hampshire, Vermont, Mass, Connecticut, Rhode Island), New York, Pennsylvania, some of the midwest, and then the west coast (Washington, Oregon, Cali).

3. What national parks and/or monuments would you go see?
I have no idea.

4. Las Vegas: Overrated or a Must-See?
A little overrated. I’ve not really cared much about visiting Vegas.

5. How long would you be gone?
A while. ;) Seriously; I don’t know.

The theme for today at Friday5.org is “Machinery”.

1. What was the last thing you purchased from a vending machine?
I don’t remember. Probably a bottle of water or a bag of chips. I don’t know.

2. What was the last thing you made copies of on a photocopier?
Sheet music.

3. When did you last use a pay telephone?
About four years ago in Toronto.

4. How often do you visit an automatic teller machine?
Not very often. Usually it’s to activate a new ATM/Debit card.

5. Which of your daily tasks would you most like to see automated?
I wish the house was self-cleaning; but I don’t think that’s going to happen. ;)

grrrgregg8tr ~ an AIR microbrowser for hellotxt

After publishing my last post regarding the want to cross-post stuff to Twitter, Pownce, and Plurk, I was reminded by a reader of the site HelloTxt by a reader, as it now has support for Plurk. I’d signed up there a while back but never used it. The main reason I never went back to it was because there was no desktop app to let someone post something to all the sites it supports without having to go to the actual site. (There is a Facebook app, yes; but it doesn’t count. ;))

Until now.

Now enter Grrrgregg8tr, an Adobe AIR app created by Rev. Dan. Problem solved. Squee! :) (If you have an account at HelloTxt, go download the app and try it out!)

plurk

I recently joined the Twitter-esque website Plurk. So far, it’s not bad. The only thing I’m hoping for is a desktop app so one can “plurk” without having to go to the site to do so. *nods* (Of course, for me, an app that would cross-post to Twitter and Pownce would be all sorts o’ awesome. ;))
