YouTube - An American Wrongfully Imprisoned In Nicaragua (6 min, 50 sec)
Watch and spread the word.
Four years ago today, the war in Iraq began. Ann’s post about it is fantastic. (Her brother, Doug, revisits as well.)
Over 3,700 soldiers (US + coalition troops) and 59,000+ Iraqi civilians dead, and–eventually–nearly half a trillion dollars will have been spent on this (check out what else could be done with that much money). And for what? Most of Iraq wants the US out; USicans themselves aren’t as supportive of the war efforts as they once were (if they ever were, that is).
A transcript from part of today’s Democracy Now! broadcast, which includes excerpts from Saturday’s anti-war rally in DC. The rally, apparently, also marked the 40th anniversary of the huge Vietnam war protest that took place there.
MAKE LOVE AND BUILD LEVEES, NOT WAR.

1. What do you like on a hot dog?
Nothing.
2. What do you like on a hamburger?
I don’t eat red meat, and haven’t for almost four years.

Just salt and pepper.
4. What do you like on a slice of toast?
Jelly–either apple or grape.
5. What do you like in a cup of coffee or tea?
I don’t like regular coffee (though I do like capuccino). In my tea, usually just a couple of teaspoons of sugar will do it.
Yeah, I’m a bit of a plain jane, in regard to most of my food; can you tell? ;)
